Guiding Star Wakota relies on donations of clothing and baby items for our material-assistance program. Many of our clients have financial challenges that limit their ability to buy even the most basic clothing and equipment for their newborn babies. You can partner with us to support expecting and new mothers by donating gently used maternity clothing, baby clothing, and baby equipment.
You can drop off donated items at Guiding Star Wakota’s office, (1140 Robert St. South, West St. Paul) weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
There are other ways for you to help us maintain the diapers and material goods we need to serve clients in their time of need. Both individuals and groups can organize material-assistance activities that help keep us supplied with the most needed items. Here are some of the activities you can help organize:
-
Host a Diaper Drive to collect diapers (as well as baby wipes, formula, and shampoo)
-
Hold a Baby Shower to collect donations of new-baby and toddler clothing (up to size 3T), new maternity clothing, stuffed animals, board books, blankets, and infant toys
-
Donate handcrafted baby blankets or clothing
-
Conduct a Baby-Bottle Fundraiser, where participants fill plastic bottles with loose change
Each of these activities can be hosted by churches, neighborhood groups, workplaces, and civic groups. If you’re interested in organizing a material-assistance project, please send an email to one of our Volunteer Coordinators, Anne or Kenyatta. You may also call them at 651-457-1195.
