Volunteer Your Time
Guiding Star Wakota relies on volunteers to assist with a number of different activities that are critical to its ongoing operation. Volunteer activities include:

• Sorting donated baby and maternity clothing
• Packing diapers for distributions to new mothers
• Doing interior and exterior maintenance on GSW’s new building
• Cleaning GSW’s new building
• Putting together mailings
• Working with GSW’s team at fundraising events

Volunteering with Guiding Star Wakota is a gratifying way to serve others and help the organization fulfill its life-affirming mission. If you’re a high-school student, a retiree, or somewhere in between, we can use your help. Most volunteer opportunities are flexible on weekdays between 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out the Volunteer Form.

Donate Clothing and Baby Items
Guiding Star Wakota also relies on donations of new or gently used maternity clothing, baby clothing, or baby equipment. You can drop off donated items at Guiding Star Wakota’s office, (1140 Robert St. South, West St. Paul) on weekdays from 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

There are other ways for you to help GSW continually maintain the diapers and material goods it needs to serve clients. Both individuals and groups can organize material-assistance activities to help us serve clients. Here are some of the activities you can help organize:

• Host a Diaper Drive to collect diapers (as well as baby wipes, formula, and shampoo)

• Hold a Baby Shower to collect donations of new-baby and toddler clothing (up to size 3T), new maternity clothing, stuffed animals, board books, blankets, and infant toys

• Donate handcrafted baby blankets or clothing

• Conduct a Baby-Bottle Fundraiser, where participants fill plastic bottles with loose change
